One thing that is important for New York rappers and any other artist is longevity. Some rappers come and go and we never hear from them again. Some rappers we hear from in their music, then disappear and re appear somewhere else. This is important and only few rappers understand the business side of hip-hop. What I mean by re appear, is that they are a new owner of a sports team, or company etc.
For all New York music lovers out there, 50 Cent is one of my all time favorites. Fifty was born in 1975 and has built a large credibility in the hip-hop industry. 50 Cent has been in movies, is an investor, and a legendary New York rapper. Discovered by Eminem and Dr. Dre, 50 Cent has made it a long time even after being shot 9 times and surviving. He has won many awards including a Grammy Award, Billboard Music Award, six World Music awards, plus more.

50 Cent is someone who understands the business side of hip hop. From rapping on the streets to becoming the CEO of a large company he has been a great self-starter and successful business man. His previous album, Get Rich or Die Tryin' has been the definition of 50 Cent. Another great hip hop legend many New York music lovers look up to, as an idol, is Jay-Z. Jay-Z is originally from Brooklyn, New York. Everyone who listens to hip hop knows who Jay-Z is. He has been around a very long time and has been influential to every hip hop artist in some way. Both Jay-Z and 50 Cent share some similarities. They not only are involved with music and the entertainment businesses, but Jay-Z is also a successful entrepreneur. Jay-Z has a net worth of over a half of a billion dollars. Sitting around $520 million I would say Jay-Z has been pretty successful with his business decisions.
From creating music to owning a portion of the Brooklyn Nets, Jay-Z has come a long way. 50 Cent and Jay-Z are here to stick around as New York music lover legends. They both use their own money and reinvest it to make more money in other areas then hip hop. This is detrimental to any business decision. Jay-Z and 50 have both set up foundations to become who they are today.
New York is a very hard place to get ahead. For a New York rapper to do something like Jay Z and 50 Cent, they must set a foundation. There is a saying, "If you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere". Maybe some of these new rappers from New York can start a savings plan to be a part owner of a sports team like Nelly, J-Lo, Usher, or Will Smith.
