TV Show About Gold Mining is TV Gold

By Tamara Hammond

Specific reality TV shows have plagued our lives as a result of the so-called entertainment networks for many years now, and many viewers had simple had enough until the recent broadcast of the new Discovery Channel's Gold Rush Alaska starring Todd Hoffman, Dakota Fred, and Parker Schnavel. What differentiates this TV series from other reality TV shows is that many of the viewers share the dream of striking it rich with the cast of this hugely popular series.

Todd Hoffman and his father Jack Hoffman have become a major hit on the Discovery's Gold Rush without a doubt, and a lot of gossip and social buzz has gone viral on the internet. Many YouTube videos are watched by thousands everyday when they aren't watching a new episode of the show. The commonalities between the viewers and the Hoffman crew, among others cast on the gold mining reality TV show, are what make this show a true reality TV show where the topics of economic depravity and hardships form a bond between the viewers and the cast of the show.

This real rags-to-riches story initially seemed to have dire foreshadowing for the Hoffman crew during the first season, and the majority of the fans just wanted to see these icons of the American free spirit find at least a little gold. At the end of the first season of Gold Rush on the Discovery Channel, it seemed the Hoffman crew was going home not just empty-handed and financially, physically, and mentally broken, but also and heart-broken.

When fans learned there was going to be a second season because the Hoffman crew had now liquidated all of their assets and acquired every loan possible, the enthusiasm for tv show about gold mining among the tens of millions of fans was almost tangible. It seemed the crew was back in action and ready to execute a new plan based on what they had learned from their mistakes. However, their former and unwanted coworker, Dakota Fred, suddenly threw an unexpected wrench in the Hoffman's plan of mining their beloved Glory Hole.

Todd, with his American spirit burning strong and bright, looked at this setback as just another important part of their trials and tribulations inevitable in such an ambitious journey to strike it rich. The novice, yet strong-willed, gold miner demonstrated his leadership once again as he landed his crew in the Canadian gold-streaked lands known as the Klondike. With the progression of the second season of Discovery Channel's Gold Rush Alaska television series, it appears the luck of the Hoffman crew has finally turned around for the better.
