History About Burning Spear And Burning Spear Albums

Winston Rodney is a community icon, spiritual up lifter and an educator in the entire reggae fraternity. He sings and performs reggae music and lives in king stone Jamaica. His lyrics are conscious with many life teachings and like to talk about Marcus messiah Garvey for he fought for Africans rights advocating self reliance and determination. Most of Burning Spear albums pass messages of peace, love and harmony.

This man Winston Rodney began his music career after his encounter with bob Marley who were both living in St Ann parish in king stone Jamaica. Winston opened his mind to bob Marley about his passion in music. Bob directed Winston to studio one where he recorded his first album called the Rocking Time.

Rodney was inspired with Marcus Garveys teachings and tries to spread them in most of his albums telling people to live together in harmony like in his song elephants. He has several records like Never club mix where he teamed up with Paul for a remix. This was his first ever remix.

The album resistance was nominated in the Grammy awards but later calling rastafari hit hard the industry as it gave him an award of the best reggae album in year 2000. The award really motivated Winston and made him seen to be the role model to many upcoming reggae artists and to his reggae fans. In 2009 he was awarded another award for the album Jah is Real.

The Dry and Heavy album features The sun, the river, its a long way around, throw down your arms, dry and heavy, wailing, black disciples and shout it out. His lyrics advocate for peace and advice people to live together in harmony and strongly believe in Jah respecting his creations. The 100th anniversary album celebrates 100 years of Garvey.

Spears recent records include people of the world, live in Paris, living dub volume five and six, gold, live at Monteux, original living dub, Marcus Garvey, best of resistance, free man and the world should know. Most burning spear albums have Rastafarian pictures or are decorated with Rasta colors. His music is commonly known as the food for the soul to his fans.
